KEENE, NH, June 23, 2016—At NEFA, we’re proud of our social-investment strategy that puts land into farming forever. So is The Scenic Hudson Land Trust Inc., the largest environmental group focused on the Hudson River Valley, which has conserved more than 100 Hudson Valley family farms—and counts our projects among them.
As NEFA prepares to launch its third agricultural center in as many years, near Kingston, NY, NEFA and Scenic Hudson are again combining forces, deepening their connection.
By developing and securing funding for the conservation easements to this newest NEFA project, as it has been doing at the first two, Scenic Hudson provides a critical part of the equation. Scenic Hudson’s efforts yield not just key funding to the NEFA ag centers, but also perpetual conservation and active agriculture provisions, thereby securing our common goal of forever farms.
“We and NEFA share a common vision: for the region’s farmland to be protected, accessible and productive,” Steve Rosenberg, Executive Director of Scenic Hudson, said this week. “NEFA has developed an innovative model, and we are proud to be working with them again to add to our record of success.”
“Scenic Hudson’s early support is an affirmation of our model,” said Founder and Managing Director Bob Bernstein of NEFA. “For our much newer organization to have the commitment and partnership of Scenic Hudson at this level is very significant.”
